Understanding the NCB Pro

The NCB Pro protects your entire home's grounding system by stopping current on grounding conductors before it enters your home. Unlike the standard NCB (which works on one device at a time), the NCB Pro provides whole-home protection.

⚠️ REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION The NCB Pro must be installed by a qualified professional—either a licensed electrician or certified building biologist. Do not attempt to install this yourself.

What the NCB Pro Does

The NCB Pro eliminates three major EMF hazards from your grounding system:

  • Contact Current: Current that flows when you touch grounded products
  • Dirty Electricity: High-frequency voltage noise on grounding wires
  • Magnetic Fields: Fields created by current flowing through conductors

ℹ️ SAFETY MAINTAINED The NCB Pro maintains an effective ground-fault path. If a fault occurs (like a cut cord energizing your grounding mat), the NCB Pro activates immediately to trip your circuit breaker and protect you.

How It Works

The NCB Pro is installed directly in your grounding conductor and contains:

  • Resistor: Blocks low-level current (adjustable with built-in dial)
  • Inductor: Filters out dirty electricity frequencies
  • Gas Discharge Tube: Activates during faults to trip breakers immediately

During normal operation, current hits the resistor and stops. In a fault condition, the gas discharge tube lights up and sends current through to trip the breaker instantly.

Pro 1 vs Pro 2

Pro 1:

  • For equipment grounding conductors protected by circuit breakers
  • Most common installation type
  • Installed in panel or near appliances

Pro 2:

  • For auxiliary outside ground rods without circuit breakers
  • Used for external grounding systems

Do You Need the NCB Pro?

You may need the NCB Pro if:

  • You have high magnetic fields even with breakers OFF
  • Current is flowing on non-current-carrying conductors (ground wires, water/gas pipes)
  • You've fixed electrical wiring but magnetic fields persist
  • You experience fatigue in specific rooms near electrical wiring
  • You use multiple grounding products (mats, sheets, canopies)

ℹ️ KEY DIFFERENCE The standard NCB protects one device at a time. The NCB Pro protects your entire home's grounding system at the source.

Installation Requirements

Review the complete NCB Pro Installation Manual (PDF) before installation. The manual covers:

  • Safety precautions and electrical code compliance (NEC 250.6)
  • Component definitions and service equipment terminology
  • Required tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Step-by-step installation procedures
  • Testing and verification protocols

What's Included with Purchase

  • 30-minute consultation with NCB inventor Andrew McAfee ($198 value)
  • Extensive training materials and installation videos
  • Free enrollment in The Dirty Electricity Master Class ($49 value)
  • Access to list of NCB Qualified Experts for installation
  • Lifetime warranty

How to Verify It's Working

Test 1: Measure Current Reduction

1. Use a Fluke 287 multimeter to measure current on the equipment grounding conductor (EGC) before installation

2. Install NCB Pro in series with the EGC

3. Measure again—you should see a significant current reduction

Test 2: Measure Magnetic Field Reduction

1. Use an NFA 1000 to create a bed map before installation

2. Install NCB Pro

3. Create another bed map—magnetic fields should be reduced (under 1 milligauss is excellent)

Test 3: Verify Resistor Function

Set the multimeter to ohms and test both leads on the NCB Pro. You should read 1 MΩ (megohm = 1 million ohms), confirming the resistor is working.

Test 4: Fault Protection Test

⚠️ REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION This test must be performed by a qualified electrician only. It involves creating a fault condition to verify the gas discharge tube will trip the breaker. Do not attempt this yourself.

FAQ

Q: How many NCB Pros do I need?

A: You need one NCB Pro for each grounding conductor you want to protect. Your installer will assess your home's specific needs.

Q: Can I install it myself?

A: No. Professional installation by a licensed electrician or certified building biologist is required for safety.

Q: Will it work worldwide?

A: Yes. The NCB Pro works in North America, Europe, and other countries.

Q: What's the difference from the standard NCB?

A: The standard NCB protects one grounding product (like a mat). The NCB Pro protects your entire home's grounding system at the source.
