Mudita Kompakt: Global vs. North American VersionsUpdated 6 hours ago

Global or North American: What’s the Difference?

The Mudita Kompakt is available in two versions: Global and North American. Both offer similar features and user experience, but they differ in network band support to better match different regions of the world.

  • North American Kompakt: Optimized for the USA and Canada. Offers better compatibility with local carriers for improved network performance.

  • Global Kompakt: Designed for use outside the USA and Canada. Supports a broader set of international bands.

Note: Both versions may still work outside their target regions, but performance may vary based on your carrier and location.

Network Band Comparison

Here’s a side-by-side look at the supported network bands. Differences are shown in bold.

Global Mudita Kompakt:

  • 2G: 850 / 900 / 1800

  • 3G: B1 / 5 / 8

  • 4G LTE:

    • LTE-FDD: B1 / 3 / 5 / 7 / 8 / 12 / 13 / 18 / 19 / 20 / 26

    • LTE-TDD: B34 / 38 / 39 / 40 / 41

North American Mudita Kompakt:

  • 4G LTE:

    • LTE-FDD: B2 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 8 / 12 / 13 / 17 / 18 / 19 / 25 / 26 / 66 / 71

    • LTE-TDD: B34 / 38 / 40 / 41

Which Version Should I Choose?

  • For users in the USA & Canada: Choose the North American version for best network compatibility.

  • For users outside North America: Choose the Global version for wider international band support.

  • If you travel frequently between regions: The Global version may offer better flexibility, though it may have some limitations with certain U.S. carriers.

Will the Kompakt Work With My Carrier?

To ensure compatibility:

  1. Check the network bands supported by your mobile carrier in your region.

  2. Compare them with the bands listed above.

  3. The Kompakt should work as long as some of the bands match.

Additional U.S. & Canadian Carrier Compatibility Notes

  • The Mudita Kompakt is FCC and PTCRB certified.

  • It is compatible with U.S. and Canadian networks in principle, but there are carrier-specific limitations:

    • T-Mobile: Recommended as the most reliable option.

    • Verizon & AT&T: May require a pre-activated SIM from another device; some users report issues.

  • Due to its niche status, some carriers may not provide APN support or full provisioning.
